removing a ceramic tile floor

    ceramic tile
  • A man-made or machine-made clay tile used to finish a floor or wall. Generally used in bathtub and shower enclosures and on counter tops.

  • A tile is a manufactured piece of hard-wearing material such as ceramic, stone, metal, or even glass. Tiles are generally used for covering roofs, floors, walls, showers, or other objects such as tabletops.

  • (Ceramic Tiles) Glazed clay tiles, which stand up to large amounts of wear and tear very well.

  • Take off (clothing)

  • Change one's home or place of residence by moving to (another place)

  • Take (something) away or off from the position occupied

  • (removal) the act of removing; "he had surgery for the removal of a malignancy"

  • remove something concrete, as by lifting, pushing, or taking off, or remove something abstract; "remove a threat"; "remove a wrapper"; "Remove the dirty dishes from the table"; "take the gun from your pocket"; "This machine withdraws heat from the environment"

  • (removal) dismissal from office

  • A level area or space used or designed for a particular activity

  • a structure consisting of a room or set of rooms at a single position along a vertical scale; "what level is the office on?"

  • The lower surface of a room, on which one may walk

  • the inside lower horizontal surface (as of a room, hallway, tent, or other structure); "they needed rugs to cover the bare floors"; "we spread our sleeping bags on the dry floor of the tent"

  • shock: surprise greatly; knock someone's socks off; "I was floored when I heard that I was promoted"

  • All the rooms or areas on the same level of a building; a story

More roots and rotten wood after removing the curb. Try to note that the shower pan (floor) basically is surrounded by a dry "moat." That will cause huge repairs as well. Because the owner decided to rebuild with porcelain tile, rather than the original cultured marble. The construction was not adequate for the tile. Oh well, I get ahead of myself.

We always hated how they finished off these tiles so I did a little demolition work before the hardwood installers came in. They came up pretty easy with the flatbar. Removing the plywood subfloor was the greater challenge. (IMG_1455)
